The Garrettsville-Hiram Rotary gathered for its November meeting at noon on Veterans’ Day, November 11, 2024, at Cal’s II in Sky Plaza. The club took a moment to honor veterans before diving into updates on various projects, fundraising efforts, and upcoming events.

Much of the meeting centered on preparations for the Rotary’s annual Reverse Raffle. Club members discussed details regarding set-up, timing, and ticket sales, as well as confirming sponsors and coordinating dining arrangements. A selection of themed baskets for the event are arriving, with more expected. This yearly fundraiser is anticipated to bring together community members in support of Rotary’s local initiatives.

Rotary members confirmed plans for their holiday celebration, scheduled for December 16. Attendees are invited to participate in a “white elephant” gift exchange, promising a fun, light-hearted atmosphere to close out the year.

The club received positive news regarding ongoing grant applications, bolstering their community efforts. However, the planned mural project has been temporarily postponed until warmer weather returns.

Rotary’s annual tradition of distributing dictionaries to local students will continue this December, with dates now finalized. This program aims to support literacy and learning by gifting dictionaries to elementary students in the community.

The meeting also featured the Rotary’s “Happy Bucks” segment, where members shared personal stories and good news. This month’s contributions celebrated the successful Christmas Walk, the achievements of the local Bombers’ and G-Men sports teams, family plans for Thanksgiving, a son’s trip to Nashville, and another son’s progress in software development.

In a moment of recognition and gratitude, the club offered a round of applause for veteran John Wolfe in honor of his service.

In wrapping up, Rotary members shared their enthusiasm for the positive developments within the club and expressed optimism about upcoming events.
