The latest assembly of the Garrettsville-Hiram Rotary Club, held on November 27, 2023, proved to be an eclectic gathering, featuring a wide array of discussions and announcements that captured the essence of community involvement and upcoming festivities.
One of the primary highlights of the meeting was the comprehensive overview of various imminent events and projects. Among these was the imminent distribution date for the Dictionary Project, scheduled for December 15. Additionally, there was a concise yet insightful review of the club’s budget concerning ongoing and upcoming initiatives. Members were also delighted to receive news about the upcoming Christmas party set for December 18. Moreover, the district governor’s email was addressed, urging an official visit to showcase the commendable local projects. While the visitation date is yet to be determined, two prospective dates in January were proposed for consideration.
An engaging consultation took place with the current exchange student, Sarrah, focusing on the distribution and trading of Rotary pins among exchange students during their interactions and events. The club’s proactive approach was evident as they discussed preparations for an outgoing student next year, emphasizing the importance of early groundwork.
The gathering welcomed guest Renee Walker, who distributed informative flyers for the upcoming “Breakfast with Santa” event. This festive occasion is scheduled to take place on December 16 at The Inn at the Pines from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Walker emphasized the event’s appeal to youngsters, as well as individuals of all ages interested in partaking in the joyous atmosphere featuring a Hot Cocoa Bar, Waffle Bar, and the chance to revel in the Christmas spirit.
Expressions of gratitude and celebration were also a significant part of the meeting, highlighted by members sharing “Happy Bucks.” These positive contributions were made in acknowledgment of various successes and moments of joy within the community. Among the celebrations were the resounding success of two Thanksgiving dinners, marked notably by the quality of gravy, the successful conduct of two worship services, a son’s triumphant passage of his board exam (heralding his journey to the Cleveland Clinic), and the anticipation of the upcoming Christmas shopping season.
