Ravenna – Life is a game of chance. You shake the white die in your hand, kiss it for luck and give it a toss. You hear it clank against the board and peek open one eye in the hopes it is the number that you need. Sometimes you get money sometimes you lose money — all in the game of Monopoly. This is the intriguing new draw to bring in shoppers to support the local economy is called Local-Biz-Opoly.

Pass Go collect $2, land on Uncle Penny’s loose change bag collect it all, maybe you pull a chance card and buy your favorite property. This year has been no dream come true, but to keep others from being blue, spend some of your green when times are lean to support their dreams.

Running from November 3rd through December 10th 2020 this exciting game in town is all about supporting local businesses. You just need documentation such as proof of purchase or a screen shot to provide validation that your property block has been compeleted to be entered into the drawing. It is so easy; in the process of ordering some ice cream, a bottle of wine or having dinner out you could be earning proof, you could be earning proofs toward your entry.

“The Local-Biz-Opoly game is designed to focus on economic and local business success through participating in shopping local, living local, and serving our local community.” The game is meant to encourage people to shop, eat and support locally outside of what’s already being done to keep small businesses open in town.

I love my hometown. The faces and the smiles of people I know and businesses I frequent are such a blessing to feel connected to others. This new game is so much fun and it is so easy to submit an entry. You can email proofs to Ravennachamber@att.net or drop off physical entries during these specific dates to the Chamber of Commerce at 135 E. Main Street, Ravenna.
-Dec. 8th 8am-12pm, Dec. 9th 11am-2pm or Dec. 10th 4-6pm.

They will be giving away cash in a raffle drawing so you can enter to win up to $1500, just for checking out a different business in town or buying pizza for dinner at one of the participating restaurants. It will be given out in $250-$500 increments for people that complete a property block on the card. “The participant will visit and make a purchase or show support based on the requirements on the “Local-Biz-Opoly” game board.” Participants must complete an entire Property Block before turning in their receipts, brochure or documentation.
