Gail Elizabeth Hovey (Troyer) passed away after a long illness November 24th, 2024 at the age of 74. She was born May, 1st, 1950 in Baltimore, MD. to Robert W. and Doris V. Troyer (Swann).
Gail moved to Portage County, Ohio as a young child and spent much of her youth on her grandparents Walter & Alta Troyer’s family farm with her parents and brothers Robert Jr. & Terry. She graduated from Crestwood High School in 1968 and resided in Garrettsville/Hiram area the majority of her life. She especially loved traveling to the Chesapeake Bay and Williamsburg areas of Virginia to spend time with her two sons Matthew and Christopher, and her 7 grandchildren. Her accomplishment of mom and grandma was her greatest pride.
Gail spent many years in the nursing and healthcare profession and provided comfort to countless people as well as elder family members. She was a true guardian angel.
Gail is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Terry R. and Kyoung Troyer of North Las Vegas NV. Her two sons Matthew and Christopher Hovey, daughter in-laws Cynthia and Tracey Hovey all of Virginia, grandchildren Emily, Eric, Zachary, Alexandra, great-grandchildren, Leiah, Emma and Demi as well as several cousins and very dear friends.
Gail was predeceased by her parents Robert and Doris Troyer and brother Robert W. Troyer Jr.
She will be remembered for her calm humor, caring nature, generosity and selflessness throughout her life. She will be deeply missed by all that were fortunate enough to know her.
Her family is grateful for everyone who visited, cared for and comforted her during her final days. She was truly loved.
A graveside memorial service at Park Cemetery in Garrettsville will be held in late Spring of 2025.
