Freedom Twp. – Our volunteers have taken advantage of the beautiful October weather to continue the renovation work at our one-room schoolhouse on S.R. 303. Two windows were installed on the east side of the building and a historic outhouse was moved from the Malotte residence on Streeter to the schoolhouse. Thanks to our great volunteer team that includes Trustee Jeff Derthick, Adam Derthick, Charles Duffield, Rich Knerem, Pete Thornton, Trustee John Zizka, and Johnathan Zizka and many more. Thanks to Len and Tina Malotte for donating the outhouse, which is from the period when the schoolhouse was open and has many interesting architectural details.
Maplewood Career Center carpentry teacher Ted Georger and his students are working on a platform for the rear entrance of our building. The young men and women are hard-working and polite and they are doing a great job, and we canāt thank them enough for helping us with this vital project.
