The Freedom Historical Society meeting on November 12 featured a video presentation focused on local worthies–Bob Bossow and his sister, Delores Reed. Bossow has been a well-known and respected builder/contractor/businessman/pilot; Reed served as Portage County Clerk of Courts for a number of years; they are now mostly retired (but can tell a good story or two). Both grew up on the Freedom Township family farm and attended Freedom Township schools, drove on Freedom Township dirt roads as well as State routes which weren’t much better. They watched the Turnpike open up, got to talk on party lines when the phones came in, went to local gatherings–governance or good times. Bob took flying lessons. Delores made the county commissioners aware of the importance of her office.
