The Ravenna Education Association (REA) is proud to invite community members to join them in supporting local students by participating in a Fill the Bus food drive from February 16-27. The drive, sponsored by REA and the Ohio Education Association, aims to help address student food insecurity in the Ravenna City School District.
Ravenna educators will work with The Center of Hope to collect nonperishable food and monetary donations to support students and families in need. Suggested donation items include canned goods, boxed meals, cereal, peanut butter, canned and dried soups, etc.
Donation bins will be located at all the school buildings. Community members are encouraged to participate and can drop off items from 9:00-11:00 am at any Ravenna School District building. For arrangements outside of those times, please contact REA Vice President Mallory Edwards at 931-436-1439.
“All students deserve access to the nourishment they need to learn and thrive,” said Ravenna Education Association Vice President Mallory Edwards. “This Fill the Bus food drive is a way we can extend our care beyond the classroom for our students. We look forward to partnering with our community to come together and making a real difference for local kids and their families.”
All donations collected will benefit The Center of Hope, ensuring food reaches students and families who need it most.
“Helping students succeed starts with meeting their basic needs,” said Jeff Wensing, president of the Ohio Education Association. “Fill the Bus is a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish together.”
Community members of all ages are encouraged to participate. No donation is too small, and every contribution helps make a difference for local students. The REA would like to thank our Ravenna community in advance for joining in this effort to help make a meaningful difference for local families.
A donation ceremony will take place Friday, February 27, at 4pm at The Center of Hope, located at 1081 W Main St, Ravenna, Ohio.
