Cleveland – Working in conjunction with the Theatre Ninjas, a Cleveland-based theater troupe committed to creating “experiences that are out-of-the-ordinary, [and] unforgettable events”, the Cleveland Museum of Art is bringing the tragic history of Pompeii to life.

The-Excavation-@-CMALocated within the Cleveland Museum of Art’s exhibition titled The Last Days of Pompeii: Decadence, Apocalypse, Resurrection; on select days visitors to the exhibit will be treated to an updated relaunch of the Theatre Ninjas acclaimed 2011 production The Excavation. Billed as a “living museum-within-a-museum” full of zany professors, peaceful gladiators, puritanical performers, ecstatic archaeologists, and rude puppets, the Ames Family Atrium serves as a staging ground for this sprawling choose-your-own-adventure-style performance.

Join the Theatre Ninjas in the exploration of the comic and tragic legacy of Pompeii through a blend of site-specific performance and interactive storytelling. Theater Ninjas will also be integrated into the exhibition during special Ninja Days in March, April, and May. This exciting collaboration between the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Cleveland-based Theater Ninjas brings together performance and the visual arts in a one-of-a-kind experience filled with humor, pathos, and catastrophic volcanic eruptions.
