In appreciation for her many years of service, Reverend Esta Everhart of Garrettsville was bestowed the honorary title of Chaplain Emeritus by the Chaplaincy of Robinson Memorial Hospital and the Portage County Association for Pastoral Care.
Esta became the first Chaplain for Robinson Memorial Hospital in 1974, paid by donations from local churches and coordinated by the Portage County Association for Pastoral Care. She continued to serve in this capacity until 1978 which included offering the Invocation at the opening of Robinson Memorial’s current facility in 1977.
Esta came back to Robinson Memorial in 1999 when she started volunteering at the hospital in the Emergency Department and also visiting patients. She continued to serve both areas for almost nine years, when she began volunteering exclusively for the Pastoral Care Department.
Esta has devoted her life to sharing the Gospel and has served Robinson Memorial Hospital and other organizations faithfully through the years.
Esta was recognized at the 2012 Pastoral Care Department Recognition Luncheon on November 6. The title of “Emeritus” was granted to Esta recognizing her pastoral leadership over the years with Robinson Memorial Hospital.
Reverend Kevin Horak, President of the Portage County Association for Pastoral Care personally delivered a certificate honoring Esta with the title of Chaplain Emeritus at her home as she was unable to attend the event held in her honor
