Berea – Elisha Bly of Garrettsville was among over 100 students whose exceptional academic work was showcased during the Baldwin Wallace University Ovation 2021 Day of Excellence. Bly, a graduate of James A. Garfield High School, presented a project titled “Environmental Effects of Redlining on Soil Quality in Cleveland, OH.”
Each spring, the Day of Excellence recognizes student success in research, scholarship, experiential learning, the arts and more. Participants must complete the submission process and have a faculty mentor who sponsors their work and gives approval to present. This year, the Day of Excellence featured exceptional student work from every school of the University through virtual presentations that allowed viewers to ask questions and provide feedback.
In addition to the student presentations, BW recognized student achievement with a variety of scholarships, prizes and awards for excellence in academics, athletics, service and leadership. The day concluded with students getting up on the Ovation Soapbox that was live streamed by the BW Brain Center for Community Engagement. Students advocated for issues they are passionate about, including hunger, mental health and identity awareness.
Baldwin Wallace University, founded in 1845, was one of the first colleges to admit students without regard to race or gender.
