Elbert B. “Bubby” King, 87, of Windham, OH, passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side, on Sunday, May 7, 2023. He was born March 23, 1936, in Nicut, WV, to the late Homer and Greta (nee Lambert) King.
He proudly owned and operated E. King Lumber & Pallet Co. for over 35 years. Prior to setting out on his own, Elbert spent a decade employed at Polson Rubber in Garrettsville. He was an avid hunter who also greatly enjoyed his farm, attending bluegrass festivals, horse races, and auctions. Elbert loved taking trips to visit friends and family in the beautiful hills of West Virginia, especially when he could stop at Shoney’s for breakfast on the way. Once there, countless enjoyable hours were spent on group ATV rides, enjoying the sights and sounds of nature, and visiting with friends. Elbert was beloved throughout the community for his boundless generosity and will forever be missed.
Elbert will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Mary Helen, with whom he was blessed to share over 63 years of marriage; children, Donna (Chris) Brys, of Garrettsville, Norma Thomas, of Windham, Ron (Shannon) King, of MI, Sheila Phillips, of Windham, and Robert (Christine) King, of Palmyra; grandchildren, Zack, Phillip (Christina), Clorissa, Nicholas (Alissa), Curtis (Alexis), Samantha, Nathan, and Joey, and great-grandson, Benjamin.
