Edsel Lee Minney, 90, of Windham Township, passed away with his loving family by his side in the early morning of Friday, February 3, 2023. He entered this world on December 11, 1932, in Frozen, West Virginia, to Rena Minney Lambert, who raised him with her husband, Don Lambert. Edsel was an only child.
He was a proud father to Lisa and Tracy. Alongside his wife, Louise, he raised his family in Windham OH. He was a family man and enjoyed the time he spent with loved ones, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren up until the day he passed.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea. Edsel was an Auto Body Repairman for Strawman’s Body Shop in Ravenna, OH where he retired after 30 years of service. During his lifetime, he also worked as a sawyer for Norman Lumber Company, drove truck for King Pallett Company and drove cement truck for Horning Cement. He enjoyed life in general and being outside with nature. During his younger years he was an avid hunter and woodworker. Like his mother, Edsel liked watching the birds and squirrels out of the front window. He was a kind and gentle soul who would help anyone who needed it. He loved a good joke and was quite the prankster.
Edsel will be deeply missed by his children, Lisa (Mike) Giffen of Mineral Wells, WV and Tracy Minney of Windham, OH; grandchildren, Justin (Stephanie Murray) Giffen of Windham, OH, Sarah (Sam) Osborne of Savannah, GA, and Serena (Matt Kronk) Keiser of Temperance, MI; great grandchildren Madison Giffen and Carter Kronk, and many nephews, nieces, and friends.
In addition to his mother and step-father, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Elva “Louise” Minney in June of 2022.
The family invited friends to honor Edsel for a visitation on Monday, February 6, 2023, from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH 44231. Per Edsel’s wishes, he will be cremated, then buried at a later date in Windham Township Cemetery in Windham, OH, where he will be laid to rest with his Louise.
