On Friday evening, May 10, 2024, Douglas James Phelps, 34, left this world unexpectedly.
Doug was predeceased by his daughter born still, Macie Brooke; and his grandparents, William Phelps, and Frank and Helen Podojil.
He is survived by his wife, Danielle (neé Calland), and their beautiful children, Nolan James and Leah Brooke; his loving and devoted parents, Amy and Scott Phelps; his older brother, Kyle (Maggie) Phelps; his grandmother, Janet Phelps; and his many aunts, uncles, and cousins — whom he considered his closest friends; and also greatly missed by his rescue dog, Benji.
Doug was a 2008 graduate of James A. Garfield High School and graduated from Kent State University in 2012. He was a Systems Administrator at Parker-Hannifin. Doug and Danielle got married in 2016 and have enjoyed traveling during their time together. This will be carried on through Danielle, Nolan, and Leah.
Doug’s effortless humor and carefree spirit will be fondly remembered. He frequented live music events that allowed him to share his favorite tunes alongside his friends. Doug enjoyed sports and board games, but notoriously never kept a score. For him, the real win was the time spent with his children and loved ones.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date. Doug’s and Danielle’s families extend heartfelt thanks for the outpouring of support.
