Mantua – Since 2007, the Downtown Mantua Revitalization Corporation (DMRC) has been helping to breathe new life into the historic Village. From small-scale projects like the addition of planter boxes and bike racks to providing matching funds in support of large-scale projects including the Mill Street extension of the Headwaters Trail, the south side sidewalk construction, and the downtown mural projects, the DMRC is committed to investing in Mantua.
Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, the group’s major fundraising events have been cancelled, inspiring the group to create the need for a new, contactless event. Not surprisingly, the event invites others to “Experience Mantua” through a unique online auction of hand-crafted items and unique experiences.
According to DMRC President Edie Benner, items including paintings, woodcarvings, quilts, and jewelry have already been donated. Unique experiences including a photo shoot, coffee tasting, a getaway to Put-In-Bay, a ‘paint and sip’ party, and a monthly pie subscription will also be available at this online event. This unique online auction gives supporters the opportunity to find unique holiday gifts for their loved ones or themselves while supporting for a worthy cause. The online auction, “Experience Mantua Art + More, will open on Saturday, November 7th at noon and continues through Saturday, November 14th at 3 pm.
Art and the events up for auction will be available for bidding from November 7 beginning at noon through November 14 ending at 3:00 PM. Visit DMRC’s website at www.revitalizemantua.org or their Facebook page for the link to the auction event.
During the event, you may bid on items online or via text. To bid online, at the DMRC auction site, simply click the “Bid Now” button by the desired item in the silent auction section. For your first bid, you will be asked to enter contact information and your desired bid amount; you’ll receive a confirmation that your bid has been received. You’ll be notified when others bid on that item; at the end of the auction, you’ll be contacted if you have won that item.
If you’d prefer, you can bid for items via text as well. Simply send a text to the event phone number: (404) 586-4739 and include the three- letter code you’re bidding on as well as your desired bid amount. For example: ABC$300. For your first bid, you will receive a text message response asking to confirm the bid by responding with your first & last name. As with the online auction, you’ll receive instant outbid notifications and will be automatically notified if you have won any items at the end of the auction.
