Denver D. “Denny” Hinzman, 73 years of age, passed away Tuesday September 3, 2019 at University Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio surrounded by his immediate family. Mr. Hinzman’s passing resulted from injuries due to an automobile accident on Saturday August 31, 2019.
Born in Fairmont, West Virginia on February 1, 1946, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Orina “Arma” (Vincent) Hinzman. Denver was a resident of the Garrettsville / Nelson area for the past 49 years. He was employed as a cable maker at Delphi Packard in Warren for over 30 years, retiring in 2003. A member of Windham American Legion Post No. 674, Denver served his country with honor in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, was a “Master Gardener”. He also enjoyed gambling, baseball, and swap meets looking for old tractor and car parts. He will always be remembered for the love he had watching his grandchildren play sports, especially baseball.
On July 18, 1970, Denver married his beloved wife Mona (Bell) Hinzman who survives at their home. Also surviving are his devoted daughters Holly (Scott) Capron and Jolene (Mike) Reese, both of Garrettsville; his dear siblings Larry (Sheila) Hinzman of Ravenna, Al Hinzman, Randy (Bonnie) Hinzman and Delvin (Thelma) Hinzman, all of West Virginia, Colleen (Larry) DeZort of Ravenna, Marsha (Dick) Dean and Marcella Ash both of Garrettsville and Debbie (Darwin) Friend of Mantua; and 3 loving grandchildren Remington, Emerson and Brylee. Preceding him in death were his dear siblings Dale Hinzman, Karen Mellin and Melva Heyd.
Calling hours were held on Sunday September 8, 2019 at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, 4668 Pioneer Trail at the corner of St. Rt. 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255. Full military honors concluded the visitation, provided by members of the U.S. Navy honor guard, assisted by members of Windham Post No. 674. In lieu of flowers, his family respectfully suggests memorials be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
