Dawn A. Nipuelio, 65, of Garrettsville, OH, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born June 28, 1960, in Akron, OH, to the late Mike and Dawn (nee Cupler) Nipuelio.

She grew up in Northeast OH. Dawn married Michael Elchert, and together they raised two daughters, who were the center of her world. She was proud to be a stay-at-home mom and made her home a place of warmth and welcome. Dawn greeted her daughters and their friends with hot cocoa in the winter and baked bread and monster cookies in the summer. Through these everyday acts, she created a home where love was constant, and everyone felt they belonged. Dawn’s kindness reached beyond her home; she never wanted anyone to go without, especially with food, and she was known for her willingness to help those in need without expecting anything in return. Above all, Dawn’s greatest joy was being a grandmother. Her life revolved around her grandchildren, and she dedicated herself to making them feel happy, secure, and deeply loved.

Dawn will forever be missed by her daughters, Sarah (Phillip) Campbell and Heather May; grandchildren, April, Carter, Abby, Maria, Arianna, Niko, Brian, and Silas; mother, Dawn Ficky;  siblings, Rosie Hatchett, Marsha Georgakopoulos, and Ron Nipuelio, former son-in-law, Andrew, who remained a meaningful part of the family, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her father.

A visitation was held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., at Life Church, 10280 OH-88, Garrettsville, OH 44231. A funeral service followed at the church at 6:00 p.m., with Pastor Greg Coleman officiating. Care for Dawn was entrusted to Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH 44231.

Because of Dawn’s generous, giving nature, the family would like to encourage firends to donate to their local food pantry, in Dawn’s name, in honor of her lifelong commitment to ensuring others never went without. For online condolences go to www.carlsonfuneralhomes.com.
