David Eugene Heckert, Sr., age 68 of Garrettsville, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2019, at Akron City Hospital.
He was born September 27, 1950, in Ravenna, Ohio, to parents Denzil Harlan and June Patricia (Heeter) Heckert. David worked in the restaurant industry, mostly with Cal’s in Garrettsville for over 27 years. He also enjoyed playing poker and was an avid fisherman and hunter.
David is survived by his sons: David (Carla) Heckert II, Denzil Heckert, Ronald Heckert, and Shaun Hullet, as well as his siblings: Jacki Harris, Herbert Heckert, and Robert Heckert, his grandchildren: Shane Heckert, Whitnie Lucero, Jamie West, and Toby West, and his great-granddaughter Ember Benson.
David was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Jimmy, Ronald “Sonny”, and Darrell Heckert.
David’s wishes for cremation are being honored. Graveside services were held on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at 11:00 AM at Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.wood-kortright-borkoski.com.
