Darlene Jean Scarlett of Ravenna, OH

1382

Darlene Jean Scarlett, age 57, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2018. She was born March 21, 1960, in Ravenna, Ohio, to parents Ralph and Betty (Long) Lynch.

On July 20, 1977, Darlene married the love of her life, Lonnie Scarlett. They were devoted to each until the day he passed away September 9, 2016. She was also preceded by her father Ralph Lynch, her brother Charles Lynch, her mother-in-law Nettie (Truax) Scarlett, and her brothers-in-law: Jim Lane, Terry Scarlett, Joey and Denny Scarlett. She will rejoice in seeing them again in God’s glory.

Family always came first in her life. Darlene is survived by her daughters: Heather Scarlett and her husband Aditya Prahalad and Ashley Scarlett and her husband Zach Mullee. Her memory will also be cherished by her mother Betty Lynch and her siblings: Dwayne (Beth) Lynch, Christine (Waide) Montgomery, Adrienne Moore, Brenda Lane, and Dennis Lynch, as well as generations of loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Darlene is also survived by her loving in-laws: Paula Morrison, Jeanne Benson, Norma Scarlett, Jim (Sue) Scarlett, and Shane (Jean) Scarlett.

Darlene graduated from Ravenna High School in 1978. She was an active member of the Portage Community Chapel where she and Lonnie served as Sunday school teachers. For a time, she was in the church choir. Darlene began working for Deluxe Corporation in Streetsboro in 1999, and continued to work there for 19 years. She was best known for being the “Avon Lady.” Darlene took over the business in 1985 after Nettie Scarlett passed away, and had been selling it ever since. She had even won awards for being the Avon representative from her district with the highest sales.

Darlene was an enthusiastic lover of life, and held the philosophy that you don’t win if you don’t play. Darlene was an amazing mother who encouraged her daughters to go out and lead fruitful lives. Her energy had no bounds! Her smile could light up the room! She was beautiful inside and out! She was loved beyond words and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Especially, her daughters who are proud to say Darlene Scarlett was their witty, trivia-loving, lottery, raffle and contest winning, Mother. Her positive outlook on life and its challenges will continue to shine on because her presence will never leave us. We love you Mom! Now go dance with Dad!

Family and friends were received Friday, March 2, 2018, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at the Portage Community Chapel, 6490 State Route 14, Ravenna, where funeral services were held on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at 11:00 AM with Pastors Brent Joy and Barry Shahan officiating.
