Crooked River Stompers Visit Garfield Elementary School

1103

Garrettsville – Thursday, April 7, the fourth, fifth and sixth graders of James A. Garfield Elementary School were treated to a musical program presented by the Crooked River Stompers (This iteration was comprised of John Reynolds and Kevin Johnson) who brought selections of Bluegrass, Swing and Old Time music on various instruments– fiddle, guitar, mandolin.

The well-behaved students got to clap along, sing along, observe the way that the instruments operated together to produce the sounds they were hearing.  They also got historical information about the tunes they were hearing.

This program was in the school as a result of funding from the Hiram Community Trust, which makes grants supporting Hiram Village, Hiram Twp, Hiram College and the students of the Crestwood and James A. Garfield school districts.
