At their September meeting, Superintendent Aireane Curtis took time to publicly thank members of the Hiram Community Trust for all they do within the local community. Most recently, the Trust provided a grant for $6,000 that allowed Crestwood Primary School to purchase a special book vending machine. Curtis explained that students earn special coins for positive behavior. They can use those coins to select a book from the newly-installed Inchy Book Worm vending machine. The machine, which is branded with Red Devil décor, is similar to the one currently in use at the Intermediate School.
In other news, Crestwood received a generous donation of $900 in Office Max gift cards from Ronald Prijatel to be used for student supplies and $400 from Laurie Barney to be used to purchase books for the book vending machine at the Primary School.
Lastly, the Crestwood Scarlet Guard Marching Band returned to Mantua as Class A Champions in September taking 1st place, Best Music, and Best General Effect in Class A at Bands of America in Toledo. In addition, the Scarlet Guard has been selected to perform for the first time ever, at the Buckeye Invitational at Ohio Stadium on October 11th. They are one of only 33 bands set to compete in this prestigious event.
They will also be performing at a OMEA competition in Brunswick on October 18th as well as the State Marching Band Finals at Hilliard Bradley Stadium on October 25th. For more information, or to find out how you can support their endeavors, visit www.crestwoodbands.com.
