Parkman 55+ Seniors
First Thursday of Month
Please join area seniors over 55 for a monthly gathering on the first Thursday at the Parkman Community Center at 11:30 am. With the exception of an occasional field trip, the gathering includes a pot luck lunch and socializing and various programs such as entertainment, informational lectures and Bingo. “Steamboats on the Western Waters”

The Freedom Township Historical Society, and the Shalersville Historical Society are co-hosting a program, “Steamboats on the Western Waters”. This program will feature Danny Back, a nationally known expert on river history, steamboats, and canals. Mr. Back will give a PowerPoint presentation at 7 p.m. on Thursday August 11. This historical program will take place in the Shalersville Town Hall at the intersection of S.R. 303 and 44, address 9090 OH-44, Ravenna, Ohio.

The Garrettsville Police Department will be holding a Fill A Cruiser event for school supplies, at the Garrettsville Family Dollar on Sunday, August 14, 2022, from 9am to 1pm. All the school supplies will be donated to the People Tree for distribution. Any cash donation given during this event will also go to the People Tree so they can purchase any school supplies still needed.

Annual Youth Shoot

Annual Youth Shoot at the Streetsboro Sportsman Assoc. located at 11280 Bloom Road Garrettsville, OH 44231 on Aug 27 from 10:00am till 3:00 pm. Lunch will be provided. Course curriculum consists of firearm training, safety and more safety. The proper use .22 rifles and range time. A parent or guardian must be in attendance. Plus we will provide range safety officers to be with each child. Age range is 8-18 years old. All kids welcome.

The Mantua Historical Society is excited to announce we will be an Ohio History Connection/Open Doors Host with a “Behind the Scenes Look at Small Town Ohio History”. We will show how objects are safely stored & identified through a grant we received. The Open House event is Thursday, September 15th 10:00am-4:00pm in the Mantua Township Town Hall 4122 State Route 82 Mantua, Ohio 44255. It is a free event. Also on the historic grounds will be live music by Skip Schweitzer. In the Civic Center Dr. Robert Kroeger will present a Barn Talk, Painting Demo, & Art Auction. There will be vendors and delicious food. $ 5.00/person donation at the door.
