Combating Hunger: Knights of Columbus’ Contribute to Nelson Garrettsville Community Cupboard

741

The Knights of Columbus were founded on the principles of charity, unity and fraternity at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Haven Connecticut in 1812. The Order quickly spread to other Catholic Parishes across the United States.

The St. Ambrose Council 11801 in Garrettsville Ohio is an active member of this organization. As part of the “Food for Families” initiative, our Council was able to donate $500.00 to the Nelson Garrettsville Community Cupboard. In addition to the cash donation the Community of St. Ambrose Catholic Church also holds monthly food drives. Presenting our check to Ted Lysiak and Kim Curry were Knights Dave Vincent and Greg Leopold. We were honored to assist this worthy organization during this holiday season. We were informed that gift giving is down for many charities this year and that our donation would go a long way to helping curb hunger in the Portage County area.
