Clara “Cookie” Louise (Claar) Shay, age 74, a longtime resident of Windham, Ohio, after a sudden decline in health, passed away peacefully at home on April 3, 2024, surrounded by family.
Cookie was born in Windber, PA on September 15, 1949 to her parents James Albert Claar and Margaret (Latchney) Claar, both who preceded her in death.
She graduated from Windham High School in 1967. She joined the General Electric Lighting Division plant in Ravenna, Ohio where she gave them 36 years of service before retiring in 2006.
Cookie was an avid reader and amazing cook who enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and playing online games and puzzles.
Cookie was predeceased by her husband, Ronnie Lee Shay. She is survived by her daughter Sandra Lee Shay-Krcmar (Andrew), son Steven Christopher Shay (Stephanie), sister Mary Ann Claar Spencer, as well as granddaughters Elizabeth and Lilian Shay.
Per Cookie’s request, there will be no services, however a Celebration of Life will be scheduled for a later date, to be announced.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Bernard P. Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls, Ohio.
