Children’s Advocacy Center or Portage County Multi-Disciplinary Team Wants You to Bowl Against Abuse!

1689

Ravenna – The 22nd Bowl Against Abuse event is happy to be returning!  The annual child abuse awareness fundraiser benefitting The Children’s Advocacy Center of Portage County (CAC) is on Saturday, October 2nd at Kent Lanes.

Since 1998 the CAC has provided FREE holistic services to children, youth and families navigating the trauma of child abuse, including: crisis intervention, education, referrals, safety planning, forensic medical examination, forensic interview, resources, therapy referral, court accompaniment and notification, help with victim impact statements, ongoing support, and more.  The CAC works with law enforcement prosecution, children services, advocacy services, community resources, medical services, mental health resources, and more to provide the best possible services to children, youth and families.  The program is accredited by the National Children’s Alliance, continuously meeting standards based on research, evidence-based practices, and measurable outcomes.

Every year Bowl Against Abuse brings together hundreds of people who want to make a difference.  The bonus for participants is a day filled with community spirit, music, and great fun.  Event sponsors, bowling teams, donors, volunteers, and many others come to bowl, laugh, and participate in dance and trivia contests.  Dozens of people come just so they can try to win one of the 45 or more fabulous baskets or to win the 50/50 raffle cash prize!

Don’t miss out on this chance to join the fun!  The CAC is aiming for participation by 72 teams and needs up to 70 event sponsors or more to reach our goals.  Many teams have already claimed a lane for one of 3 bowling sessions (9:00, 12:00, or 3:00), so don’t delay to secure your team’s spot.  The $25 registration fee pays for bowling shoes, games, chances to win many prizes, and the opportunity to have a great time while contributing to an important cause.  Bowling skills are not required!  Every bowler wins a door prize. Teams must be registered by September 28th!

Event sponsorship is available right now through September 21st starting at $150 and including the event sponsor’s name on a banner hung above a bowling lane, on the event T-shirt, in announcements during the event, and varying levels of media and social media recognition.  Raffle basket donations are welcome!  Of course, support for this event in any amount is greatly appreciated.

The Children’s Advocacy Center of Portage County is a non-profit organization located in donated space in University Hospitals Portage Medical Center.  Proceeds from the event directly support all of the CAC’s services for children, youth, families, and community education and prevention activities.  Over the last 2 years victim services agencies like the CAC have received over 60% funding cuts, the CAC needs community support more than ever!  For more information call (330) 297-8838, email cac@uhhospitals.org, visit www.childadvocacyportage.org, or CACPortage on social media.  The CAC continues to be extremely grateful for the support of our community to maintain these critical services for children, youth and families!

To report child or elder abuse or neglect call the Portage County Department of Job & Family Services reporting hotline 330-296-2273.
