On Monday, Charles Auto Family donated a gift to Toys for Tots for every person who took a test drive in the 2019 Chevy Silverado. “We wanted to unveil the new Silverado and donate a toy in the name of everyone who took a test drive,” said salesman Marc Krysinski.
The all-new Siverado half-ton boasts a “totally redesigned, brand-new truck, from hood to hitch,” Krysinksi said. The unveiling event gave drivers the opportunity to check out the Silverado’s two new engine options, better fuel economy and new technology in a festive, holiday atmosphere.
An anchor business at Garfield Plaza for 61 years, Charles Auto has been a Toys for Tots drop-off location “forever” and the staff wanted to fill up the dealership’s three big Toys for Tots bins so local kids can have a happier holiday.
Anyone who missed Monday’s Silverado ride-and-drive event can still check out the truck’s new features and can bring in a Christmas gift for the Toys for Tots campaign through December 10, at which point all boxes will be collected.
The mission of the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community. By receiving a new toy at Christmastime, a message of hope is meant to assist the children in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens.
Toy distribution will be held on December 16, from 8am until noon at VFW Post 1055, 5998 New Milford Road in Ravenna. Nationally, local campaigns have gathered tens of millions of toys valued at hundreds of millions of dollars over the years.
