On Saturday July 13th, the much-anticipated summer art festival returns to the heart of Mantua. The day-long street festival encompasses both sides of East Prospect Street, and features local and regional artisans selling ceramics, paintings, pottery, jewelry, photography, metal art, woodwork and hand-blown glass. Local wineries will offer tastings, and local restaurants and food trucks will be available to satisfy your taste buds.
Named the “2014 Best Arts and Cultural Event in Portage County,” this street festival boasts a Chinese auction of art and local prizes and the always popular photo contest, where budding photographers of all ages can enter categories that include people/portraits, landscapes, nature, places/events, and animals/pets. Photos taken in Mantua, Shalersville, or Hiram Village or Township will also be considered for inclusion in the 2025 DMRC Calendar. The entry cost is $5 per photograph. For questions or an entry form for the photography contest, email aothphotocontest@gmail.com.
In addition, a public art piece created at the Children’s Booth at last year’s festival is available via silent auction now. The brightly colored piece, which was constructed of individually painted popsicle sticks, is a square that measures 37.5”X 37.5” and includes a wooden frame and base. To place a bid, simply text your name and best offer to (330)414-6486 right now. Don’t worry about being outbid – everyone will have an opportunity to post a higher bid at the festival between 10 am and 3:45 pm on July 13th. The winning bid will be announced at 4 pm.
