While the Crestwood Community Center has been offering programs and activities since last summer, the organization is ready to add some spring to your step as the weather begins to warm up. The group meets every Wednesday at 4810 East High Street in Mantua Lodge at Buchert Park, unless otherwise noted.

On Wednesday, March 12, they’ll have a SAIL (Stay Active and Independent for Life) exercise class at 11 am followed by a brief meeting and brown bag lunch and Mexican Train dominoes. The following Wednesday, March 19th, after the SAIL class, a complimentary lunch will be provided by Main Street on the River while the Portage Health District presents a program entitled “We Love Our Seniors”.

On March 22nd, participants are invited to meet up at the Goodell Family Farm Pancake Breakfast from 8 am until 1 pm at the Shalersville Town Hall. On Wednesday, March 19th, the group will again meet at the Mantua Lodge at 11 am for the SAIL Class. Afterwards, participants are invited to enjoy lunch on their own, followed by oil painting “Spring Blooms” on canvas (fee required) or games.

On April 10th, why not join a group trip to see the Pittsburgh Highlights & Spring Flower Show at the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. Trip includes admission to one of the finest Victorian glass houses in the country, as well as lunch at the Churchworks Brewery & Restaurant, a converted Roman Catholic church. Final stop is the Monongahela Incline for a beautiful view of the three rivers and the Pittsburgh skyline. Trip cost of $105 per person includes travel expenses, lunch, and all tours and admissions. Call Life Center Plus for reservations at (330) 655-7587.

Later, folks are invited to join the Amish Brown Bag bus tour to Berlin, OH. The trip takes place on May 10th, but reservations are due soon. Trip highlights include visits to the Ashery Country Store, Heini’s Cheese Chalet, Sol’s Exchange, and more. Excursion fee of $109 per person also includes dinner at Der Dutchman restaurant and a free brown bag of goodies courtesy of Anderson Coach & Travel. Call 1-800-345-3435 to reserve your spot.

In early summer, why not take part in a group trip to Grand River Cellars Winery and the Rabbit Run Theater on June 13th? The $99 cost includes transportation, dinner and a wine tasting, and admission to the production of “Anastasia” – a Tony-award winning show that transports the audience between the twilight of the Russian empire and the euphoria of Paris in the 1920’s. Call Life Center Plus for reservations at (330) 655-7587.
