Burton Public Library Independent Film Festival

Burton Library is known for its Burton Art Show and their children’s Art Show is now on display.  Yet, these two show only displays 2 dimensional art (i.e. drawings, paintings…) and 3 dimensional art (i.e. sculpture, clay…).  What about the 4 dimensional art…films!  This year, Burton Library will be hosting their first Independent Film Festival

“This Idea came about when we decided to offer Filmmaking 101 to the teens in our community,” says Halcyon Domanski, Children’s Library Assistant “We want a way for them to share what they had learned and made in the class.  We then realized that this could be an opportunity for everyone in our community to share their movies.”

“It is not often that events are available for Filmmakers to share their art.  Yes we have social media but an actual film festival is a more personal interaction with the art form,” says Eli Millette, Children’s Librarian “We are hopeful that the community will join us in this endeavor and submit their films as well as come and join the audience.”

December 2nd starting at 6 p.m., Burton Public Library will be hosting their first Geauga Independent Film Festival.  If you live in Geauga County you are invited to submit any short film you have made.  It must be 15 minutes or shorter and it must be PG-13.  Your film can be fiction, documentary, animation, anything you would like.  All films must be submitted to Burton Public Library in mp4 format. It can be emailed to halcyon.domanski@burton.lib.oh.us or a memory stick may be delivered to the Library.  Submission deadline is November 15th.

All Ages Welcomed! This is a free event to submit to and attend. Free Popcorn and drinks at the event.
