Youth Programs & Events:

Summer Reading Kick-off with The Chardon Polka Band! – Wed., June 6, 2 p.m. Sign-up for summer reading and join us for a performance by The Chardon Polka Band. We will also have jumbo games to play, face-painting, balloon animals, treats and more. All ages!

Summer Storytimes – Join us for stories, puppets, bubbles, songs, and more during our summer storytime season. Ages 0-5 with a caregiver. June 4th – August 3rd

Outback Ray – Don’t miss Outback Ray’s Amazing Animal Show! All welcome. Monday, June 11, 3:15pm

Lego Club – Build your own Lego creations! Ages 5+ Tuesdays: June 12, 19, 26 & July 3. 2:30 pm

Rocks, Minerals, & Crystals – Join the Cleveland Museum of Natural History as we learn all about rocks, minerals, and crystals in a fun, hands-on way. Registration required. Grades 2-5. Wednesday, June 13, 2pm.

Thursday Movies – Join us for a family-friendly movie with snacks and drinks provided. Thursdays June 14 & 28, July 5, & August 2 at 2 pm

Touch a Truck & Tractor – We will have REAL pick-up trucks, fire trucks, tractors, and other machines to explore! Monday, June 18, 3pm

Knitting Rocks! – Join Ms. Jamie as she teaches us about yarn and needle selection, the Knit & Purl stitch and make a small hat. Needles & yarn provided! Ages 9 +. Registration required. Wednesdays: June 20, 27, July 11, 18. 6pm

Make Music Day – The Geauga Sweet Strings will be celebrating in the Reading Garden, along with a host of other musicians. Join us from 11am to 1pm to make your own upcycled instrument and play along! Thursday, June 21, 10:00am – 7:30pm

Grand Parade of Pets – Bring your pet for a grand parade around the Reading Garden. All pets welcome, even if they aren’t “real”. Use good judgement and make sure your pet is people friendly. Leashes, cages/pet carriers mandatory. Monday, June 25, 3pm

Adult Programs & Events

Libraries Rock! ADULT Summer Reading – Wed., June 6 – Tues., Aug. 7 Receive entry form stamps for reading/listening to books, attending programs, and for donating to our food bin. Grand Prize drawing on Aug. 8. Registration begins June 6.
Line Dancing with Dee Blansett of Dee’s Country Kickers – Thurs., June 7, 6:30 p.m. Do you love to dance but have a partner who doesn’t? Why not join us for some line dancing? No registration.

Tai Chi in the Garden – Sat., June 9 at 11 a.m. Sue Giles, a long-time Tai Chi instructor, will conduct a beginner class in our lovely reading garden. The class will be held inside in case of inclement weather. No registration.

History of Rock & Roll: Rhythm and Revolt – Thursday, June 14th at 6:30 p.m. More than fifty years after its birth, American rock is the most influential music in the world. The emphasis of this program is on the early creative energy: the soloists and groups of the First Wave (1950s) through the Beatles era. Taught by Dr. Tina Dreisbach, Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Music for Hiram College. No registration.
Getting Started with Wood Carving – Sat., June 16 at 11 a.m. Led by John Lilllich, Trustee Audubon Society of Greater Cleveland.

John began woodcarving at the age of eight and has participated and placed in numerous art shows with his pieces. John will discuss: beginning and more advanced tools, patterns, supplies, tool sharpening, and safety. You will not be carving in this program. No registration.

Adults “Rock” the Library! – Sat., June 23 from 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. Paint a rock, take it with you, then hide it… With over 200k members, the Northeast Ohio Rocks! movement has been featured nationally. We have all the supplies, come join in the fun! For teens and adults. No registration.

“The Beatles in Cleveland” with Dave Schwensen – Thurs., June 28 from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. with FAB music and “mop-top” memorabilia 30 minutes before and after. The evening’s highlights will include films of The Beatles riotous concerts at Cleveland Public Hall in 1964 and Municipal Stadium in 1966. Registration begins May 28.
