Burton-Middlefield Rotary Hits A Grand Slam With This Year’s Maple Splash Raffle Festival

399

On Saturday, July 2, the Burton Middlefield Rotary held the 2nd Annual Maple Splash Raffle Festival at the Geauga County Historical Society’s Century Village in Burton Ohio.

The event featured the Grand Drawing for the beautiful bright red Ford Mustang fastback provided by Pat Preston Super Store and dozens of other fantastic prizes. The well-known “Legacy” band provided great music during the event. Almost 20 non-profit agencies from Geauga County set up booths and passed out info about their programs, provided kids games, food and more to the delight of the crowd which appeared to be about 30 percent larger than last year. In addition, there was a 50/50 drawing that gave away $400, dozens of gift baskets on which to bid, a mystery box prize contest and a special gigantic gift basket full of dozens of gifts of all types. Rotary hopes to continue to grow this event going forward as the popularity and success have really taken off.

The funds raised by the ticket sales for the Maple Splash Raffle goes to many of our county non-profits and others and for basic club operations throughout the year. The success of the raffle has allowed Rotary to become one of the largest supporters of Geauga County community organizations. Rotary also provides a social arm with our weekly meetings and an international service area that has provided over $500,000 in humanitarian aid throughout the world over the last 15 years. Our membership consists of professionals from many varied vocations within the county. If you have an interest and believe in our motto of “Service Above Self” please check us out online at burtonmiddlefieldrotary.org

Next year’s Maple Splash Raffle tickets will go on sale around Dec. 1, 2022. Buy tickets early next year and be eligible for each of the monthly $1,000 drawings from January to May with all monthly winning tickets being put back in the drum and eligible for the next drawing and the final drawing at the Maple Splash Raffle Festival in July.

Burton-Middlefield Rotary also wants to give a special thanks for the help and support we received from our friends at the Pat Preston Super Store in Burton, the Rotary Club of Geauga West, the East Geauga Kiwanis Club, the Geauga County Historical Society, and the staff from the Burton Chamber of Commerce at the Log Cabin on Burton Square. Without them this event would have never happened.

The non-profit organizations featured at the festival were, Chardon Fire and Rescue, Claridon Community Helps, Cleveland Soaring Club, Destination Geauga, East Geauga Kiwanis, Geauga County Loss Team, Geauga County 4-H, Geauga Faith Rescue Mission, Geauga County Public Library, Geauga West Rotary Club, The Harriet Tubman Project, Next Step, NPower Services, The Red Tulip Project, South Newbury Union Chapel, Totally Dogs 4-H, Valor Retreat, Veteran’s Food Pantry, and WomenSafe. Sponsors and patrons of our event, through their donations and expenditures, were able to touch all these worthy and important Geauga organizations.

As always, a big thank you to our many sponsors that make this possible.
