Borrow Snowshoes Free of Charge

1304

First-come-first-served snowshoe borrowing is back at The West Woods, and it’s still FREE for Geauga County residents!

For a snowshoeing adventure, you’ll first need at least four inches of “good snow” (not icy or super fluffy) on the ground – and the deeper the snow, the better. Check weather conditions for ZIP code 44072 or call 440-285-9516 to learn whether we have enough snow to make your snowshoe experience memorable; you may also call ahead for current availability, but please understand that no reservations will be taken.

When the time is finally right, then, snowshoes will be available to borrow for up to two hours between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. from The West Woods Nature Center’s front desk. Please note that borrowed snowshoes must stay within the boundaries of The West Woods. Only ages 18+ can sign for the loan, although we do have sizes for kids as young as 3 and under 50 pounds; anyone younger just needs to be accompanied by an adult. The borrower must also sign a waiver form and leave a driver’s license as a security deposit. Out-of-county residents are charged a $5 rental fee (credit card only).

Interested in naturalist-led snowshoe experiences, too? Visit our website under Programs & Events, then program activity Snowshoeing, to get on our call list and be alerted when conditions are so good that a pop-up program is called! These programs may be any time day or evening at any of our parks depending on conditions; our no-obligation call list is just a way to learn about them when they happen.
