The Book Discussion Club of the Garrettsville branch of the Portage County District Library will meet on Tuesday October 16, 2018, in the library meeting room at 5:00p.m.
The month’s selection is Homegoing: a novel by Yaa Gysai
Two half-sisters, Effia and Esi, are born in different warring villages in Ghana. Unaware of each other’s existence, one marries an Englishman and lives in the main rooms of the Cape Coast Castle while her sibling is imprisoned in the dungeon and sold into slavery.
Gyasi traces a 300 year family tree from the African tribal slave trade of the Gold Coast to American plantation life until ending in present day Ghana and America.
