Betty J. Prelac, 91, formerly of Newton Falls, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Monday June 6, 2022.
Betty was born March 13, 1931, in Warren, the daughter of Anthony and Maria DelVecchio. In 1951, Betty married the love of her life, George J. Prelac. Together, they raised five children. Betty was a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Ladies Guild in Newton Falls. Most recently, she attended St. James Catholic Church in Glendale, AZ. Betty was a cosmetologist for many years and worked at Cameo, Continental, and Marge’s Beauty Shops. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, reading, and working crossword puzzles. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George J. Prelac, daughter Georgann McCoy, son-in-law Patrick McCoy, and son Martin Prelac. Also preceding her in death were her three sisters, Antoinette Cardarelli, Rose DeChristafaro and Nellie Sudzina.
Left behind to cherish her memory are two daughters, Christine Wolcott of Scottsdale, AZ and Rose Marie (Mark) Benich of Glendale, AZ, a son, Joseph (Diane) Prelac of Stockbridge GA, nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Betty is also survived by her brother, Richard (Mary) DelVecchio of Champion and many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
On Saturday, July 30, 2022, a gathering will be held at James Funeral Home in Newton Falls from 10:00-11:00 a.m. A mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church on Quarry Street at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be immediately following at St Joseph Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at Roby Lee’s Restaurant on Rt 534 in Newton Falls.
