Art Opening in Mantua

1001

Mantua – On Friday, April 13th, the work of local photographer Jim Trombo will be featured at the Frost Glass Art Gallery in Mantua. The show, entitled “Nature’s Graces and Rural Places,” will be held from 5 until 8 pm, and features a selection of Trombo’s photographs that showcase the beauty of nature found in North East Ohio.

“I was nine years old when my uncle first handed me a camera and told me to go and take pictures of anything I wanted,” the photographer shared on his website. “I remember heading into the woods in our back yard and feeling empowered by the magical device in my hands.” That was over forty years ago. The artist shared, “I still find the photographic experience just as magical as I did that day back in 1970.”

Trombo, a graduate of Hiram College, has lived in Geauga County for much of his life. Not surprisingly, the beauty of Northeast Ohio nature is often the subject of his photograpy. “I enjoy the challenge of finding the beauty and uniqueness in otherwise simple places and things. Sometimes it’s just a different angle or waiting for the light to be right that makes all the difference, other times it’s controlling the scene through the creative controls of the camera and composition. Regardless of how or where I take the picture, my intention is to capture an image at a special moment in time,” he explained. “I hope that you enjoy viewing my images as much as I did creating them,” Trombo added.

In addition to fabulous photography, the event will feature organic wines provided by Highland Hops and Vine and refreshments provided by Jake’s Market. Start your weekend in a nature friendly manner — see wonderful photos, sample wine and meet the Frost Gallery’s new shop mate Denise Kotkowski, who offers massage therapy.
