Antique Tractor Club of Trumbull Hosts Annual Antique Tractor Show

945

Trumbull County – What do you get when you mix Meadow Green, Prairie Gold, and silver together? You get three of the tractors that are under the umbrella of the Agco Corporation. They are also the featured tractors of the 27th annual tractor show of the Antique Tractor Club of Trumbull County. The show grounds are located at 1653 Ridge Road, Vienna, Ohio 44473. This is easy access off of State Route 11, exit 54, King Graves Road, the Air Force Reserve, and Youngstown – Warren Regional Airport exit. Follow the signs to the show. This year’s show will be held on August 19, 20, and 21.

In the 1960s, the White Motor Company acquired the Oliver Corporation and Minneapolis Moline. In 1974, the last Prairie Gold Minneapolis Moline tractor, a model G-955, was manufactured. 1976 saw the last tractor bearing the Oliver name roll off the assembly line. It was a model 2255, Meadow Green with Clover White wheels, grill, and lettering. These companies were acquired by AGCO Corporation, headquartered in Duluth, Georgia when it was formed in 1990.

For some good old-fashioned country fun, come out to enjoy the show. There’s something for everyone. There will be vendors with handcrafted items as well as direct sales representatives from various companies. For the kids there’s a bounce house, playground and a barrel train ride.

There will be a different basket auction each day with a chance to win some great items including some donated by our vendors. Drawing will be held each day at 4 PM. Winners need not be present.
Friday, tractors will be arriving all day. There just might be an impromptu members-only garden tractor pull. This will be a good day to watch all the last minute activities and enjoy the beauty of the show grounds.

Saturday’s festivities officially start with a pancake breakfast from 8:00 AM till 10:00 Am or till sold out. At noon there will be a members-only garden tractor pull for bragging rights only. Jim Hein will perform country/bluegrass music for entertainment from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. The basket drawing happens at 4 PM. Winners do not have to be present.

On Sunday morning once again there will be a pancake breakfast from 8 to 10 or till sold out. Please join us at 9:00 AM for an outdoor church service with Ed Agler bringing the message. Then enjoy the singing of the Saving Grace Group. At noon the exciting Ground Pounders Unlimited LLC garden tractor pulling club will rev their engines and make the dust fly as they attempt to pull the sled down the track. Things will wind down at 4 PM with the basket auction drawing and the 50/50 raffle drawing. Once again the winner need not be present. If you happen to be hungry during the day we have you covered. Visit the Club’s concession trailer where you’ll find the Club’s famous bean soup. This soup is so good there are even people from Georgia that purchase it each year. There will also be homemade cobblers and other goodies to satisfy your hunger pains. The Ohio Branch K9 Search Team will be set up from 12:00 to 4:00 on Sunday selling fundraiser items and doing demos. The Team is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing mutual aid to local, state, and federal emergency services agencies in need of locating missing persons. Check out their Facebook page, Ohio Branch K9 Search Team.

While at the show be sure to visit our Memories of Yesteryear building located in the NW area of the grounds. Here you’ll see an exhibit of donated and loaned items that were used by our ancestors either in the field, workshop or in the home.

At the South end of the grounds watch a blacksmith as he creates objects by hot and cold forging and hammering on an anvil. Also in this area are a Post Office building from East Orwell, Ohio, and a scale house from Lockwood, Ohio. The mail sorting cubbies in the Post Office are from the West Farmington, Ohio Post Office.

Alcohol and firearms are prohibited. Not responsible for accidents should any occur.
If you are interested in joining the Club, memberships will be available at the show. Individual memberships are $14.00, and family memberships are $16.00.
