Mantua – This year the Sweet-heART Auction and Cookie Walk has something new: fifteen specialty desserts. Ten of them would look right at home on the cover of a food magazine. The other five are by well-known local cooks whose creations people line up for: Nora Brant’s legendary apple dumplings and Leone Krohn’s lemon meringue pie, just for two. There will be chocolate, and cheesecakes, and a Valentine’s cake… and more.
As in the past, there will be art, whimsies, and cookies, as well as the mini art quilts. The whimsies are unique hand crafted items, with lots of beautiful knit and crochet work. Some items will appeal to kids.
In the art category there is everything from original lovely watercolors to Harley Davidson posters and everything in between, including a hand turned cherry wood salad set by Skip Schweitzer.
Photographers Dave Dreimiller and Jim Trombo, who both do very popular subjects, have pledged work.
Also new this year is a raffle quilt, hand-pieced and hand-quilted, in the traditional Wedding Ring pattern.
Come and see what your friends and neighbors have contributed to this third annual fund raiser, a joint effort by The Mantua Restoration Society, Inc., and the Task Force to develop a community center in the Mantua Center School building.
Date and time: Saturday, February 9, 2019, from noon to 4:00 p.m.
Place: The Mantua Center School building, 11741 Mantua Center Road in Mantua Township
