Members of the Twentieth Century Club of Garrettsville met on September 18, 2025 for an informative meeting reviewing the history of the organization–one hundred and twenty-five years-worth–as well as conversation and appreciation of a new venue in town–The Gathering Place, party and event space located at 8052 State St., Garrettsville. The amenities included serving spaces for food arrangements, a wall-mounted fireplace light feature, space for tables and chairs, a separate conference room with a table and chairs and presentation capabilities; the location was apropos for an organization with such a varied history.

Members of the program committee (Gale Lane, Karen Miller, Shirley Danku, Leah Schultz)provided the program for the evening–and a lovely birthday cake celebrating 125 years.Activities over this span of time included music and drama productions(“Cinderella” and “The Skin of Our Teeth”, for example), poetry readings, guest artists, recovery from national crises–Spanish-American War, WWI, Depression, WWII, Viet Nam, September 11, to name a well-known few. The club has been nothing if not varied and has ably represented its motto, “Step by Step Onward.”

Here’s to another illustrious span of years.
