Center Holds Grand Opening in Mantua

93

Last Wednesday, the Crestwood Community Center held a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting ceremony in Mantua.. What started as the bud of inspiration in April has bloomed into a place for local folks to meet weekly just six short months later.

Organizer Rosemary Krupar, a Mantua resident and retired Crestwood teacher, noted that the Crestwood Community Center (CCC) was started to fill a void for nondenominational activities and programs for adults living in the Crestwood School district area. “Our mission,” Krupar noted, “is to create a welcoming and inclusive space to foster personal growth and community connections.” She noted that programming at CCC supports health and adult education. The Crestwood Community Center is open every Wednesday from 11am to 3pm at Mantua Lodge (4810 East High Street).

Each week, the center hosts a weekly SAIL (Stay Active and Independent for Life) balance and fitness class. Book and puzzle swaps happen weekly, as do a rotating selection of games including bingo, dominoes and cards. Future lunch programs will provide an opportunity to learn about the local history of the Headwaters Trail, Senior to Senior technology assistance, and more. Programming has been made possible through the generous support of the Hiram Community Trust, Mantua Village and Downtown Mantua Revitalization Committee.

This past Wednesday’s event was an opportunity for the Mantua-Shalersville Area Chamber of Commerce to officially welcome this new resource into the community. While the Center’s activities take place in the Lodge at Mantua’s Buchert Park, residents from Mantua Village, Mantua Township, Hiram Village, Hiram Township and Shalersville are welcome to attend.
