Farmington Senior Center Breakfasts

Mondays

The Senior Center is open for breakfast Mondays from 7a-Noon. A full menu is offered from scrambled eggs to Belgian waffles. Lunches are served T-TH from 11a-1p only $5-plate includes homemade soup or salad, entrée, dessert and beverage. Menu for the week is posted on Facebook, or just call 330-889-2733.

Young At Heart Meetings

Young at Heart  organization for 55 and older, meets every 3rd Tuesday of the month at the Immaculate Conception Parish Hall.  We gather for meals, meeting and fellowship.  All denominations are welcome.  To attend or for more information call Jackie 330-569-4048.

BINGO! At St. Ambrose

First & Third Tuesday

Al Anon Meetings

What can you do when someone close to you drinks too much? Al Anon may be able to help. We meet Tuesdays 7:30 -8:30 pm at the Renaissance Center 9005 Wilverne in Windham or Wednesday 7-8 pm at Hilltop Christian Church, 4572 Prospect in Mantua. Meetings are completely confidential.

Crestwood Community Center

Drop by and visit!  Weekly activities include guided nature walks, card games, bingo, Dominoes, puzzles, and book swaps.  Meet us at Mantua Lodge, Buchert Park, 4810 E. Time For Tots

2nd & 4th Wednesdays

Children ages 2-5 (adults stay for fun, siblings welcome) are invited to Time for Tots on the 2nd & 4th Wednesdays of each month from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. Our goal is to provide a safe indoor environment for young children to play, craft, enjoy music & burn energy.  Time for Tots will run from 9/11/24 – 5/28/25. We will not meet if Ravenna Schools are closed. No need to sign up for this free event, just stop in and enjoy the fun. Call 330-297-6424 with questions. Loaves and Fishes Community Meal

A free meal is open to all residents in Mantua, Garrettsville, Hiram, and surrounding areas. Anyone who needs to stretch their food dollars, or enjoys a homemade meal, is invited. The meal is from 5-6:30pm, the last Thursday of the month, January through October, at Mantua Center Christian Church, 4118 State Route 82 in Mantua Township. We hope to see you there for good food and conversation.

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

University Hospitals Portage Medical Center is hosting a National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at their main entrance located at 6847 North Chestnut Street, Ravenna, Ohio. In collaboration with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), this event provides the public with a safe and anonymous way to dispose of expired, unwanted, or unused prescription and over-the-counter medications. Participants can simply drive up and drop off their medications for proper destruction.

In addition to medication disposal, free DisposeRx packets, Narcan, and fentanyl test strips will be available through Project DAWN to help combat opioid overdoses. Free health screenings for blood pressure and blood glucose, offered by NEOMED’s APhA student chapter, will also be available inside the main lobby, along with a health resource and information table.

Shredding Day

Need old documents shredded? Visit the Garrettsville Library on Saturday, November 2 from 9:00 – 12:00 pm for a confidential paper shredding event.  This community Shred-It event is free to residents! You are invited to bring a box or two of confidential papers that need to be securely destroyed. After the shredding process, the confettisized pieces will be responsibly recycled in an eco-friendly manner. Protect yourself from identity theft and fraud by destroying old personal documents. 

Election Day Lunch

Nelson United Methodist Church will have Election Day Lunch available for $8 from 11am – 4pm. Choice of Hot Dog or Pulled Pork Sandwich with a Bowl of Chili Soup. Add a piece of pie or cake for $3.  Free beverage. There will also be a bake sale.

Shalersville Historical Society Meeting

The November meeting of the Shalersville Historical Society will be Thursday, November7 at 7 PM at the society’s museum, 9154 St Rt 44.  The painting of all the buildings on the museum complex has been completed & looks really good!  Our meetings are open to the public and anyone interested in local history so don’t be a stranger.  Light refreshments will be provided.  If you would prefer a tour of the museum/house, then visit us on Sunday November 3 between  2 and 5 during our monthly open house.  Mark your calendars now for our annual Christmas Potluck which will be Thursday, December 5.  More details will follow soon.

St Anselm Christmas Boutique

St. Anselm Christmas Boutique:   Saturday, November 9, 9:00 to 4:00 at St. Anselm School, 13013 Chillicothe Rd., Chesterland (Rt. 306, 1/2 mile south of Rt. 322). Admission is $1.00. There will be over 70 craft vendors from the area. There will also be a bake sale, a snack bar, and a prize raffle with many great prizes including Browns tickets. Join the Boutique Bounce by also stopping at Old South Church, 9802 Chillicothe Rd. in Kirtland and St. Mark Lutheran Church at 11900 Chillicothe Rd. in Chesterland on the same day. (St. Mark’s is also on Friday evening.) Pick up a card at your first stop and have it stamped at each show for a chance to win one of three gift baskets. Drawing will be held on November 10. On Saturday, January 18 2025 at 2:00PM at Reed Memorial Library  a PowerPoint presentation by Historian Wayne Enders will be presented.  Beautiful photographs of Ravenna taken by Wayne Enders are featured in this PowerPoint presentation.
