I hope that the various vendors, wandering wine-tasters and customers of all descriptions will have judged the recent “Sip & Shop on Main” event to have been a success and make it a point to return next year–if, indeed, it does return. It was a fine day for being out in town and seeing something new to do. For a first-time-ever event, it seemed to be going well; the weather was excellent, if plenty hot. I hope that everyone will begin planning to return, expand and explore new things to do.

Personally, I made a point of checking out all of the offerings, from kettle corn to jewelry items ( the Sparkle Sisters were a particular hoot), not necessarily buying a lot, but being amazed at the varieties of things that people get into: Ron & Cindy Gill know their woods and trees,  pottery, glass, all sorts of handicrafts, pretty amazing, actually.

I had to go light on the vintners’ offerings, I was driving my trike and did not want to get picked up for D.U.I. or even D&D (Also did not know if I could power myself home while feeling wobbly–guess it worked). And in other news : My brother and his tribe returned to New Mexico and Arizona none the worse for wear, other than being ensnarled in delays at the airport–luggage arrived 24 hr. After they did. They did get to return with an offering of peaches and maple syrup (not in combination) from Monroes, which survived in the bags in any case. Always good to get genuine food from “the old country”.

Have been watching the Olympics every chance I get; those people are amazing! When I watch “Jeopardy”, I always pat myself on the back just a little when I get an answer right, especially if it’s one that the contestants do not nail in just seconds- I thinks: “Ha ! I could do that!” This does not happen in the Olympics; I just gaze in amazement when somebody sticks a landing or finishes .021 seconds ahead of somebody else in the pool or makes some out-of-this-world move to drive the crowd wild. Not once have I said to myself. “Oh, I could do that.” Not once.

Simone Biles is safe from me.

My self-esteem may be shot to heck by the end of this two week stretch, but I will strive to make repairs ASAP.

And as I have said countless times before, as soon as the Fourth of July is over, it’s that loooong slide to school starting. Don’t forget, this year’s tax break has been extended to dining out and to higher price levels.. Shop ‘til you drop–drop a bundle, in any case. We’re going to be back at it soon enough. Still a few car nights to go. Peaches and what-all. Cram it all in.
