We’re off to see the Wizard… er the Mouse!

1483

Heading off to the Magic Kingdom, or whatever they call it in Florida. I really don’t know, having never been there. I’m hoping that enjoyment of the place will not be based solely on “riding the rides”, because I have not been on one of those things since godknowswhen, some time back when I was young and foolish (Only thing different now is that I am approaching “old”…still foolish though)–did not enjoy rides back then either (Though I have been “taken for a ride” more times than I’d like to admit). Also, Mickey is not my favorite Disney character–that would likely be Donald Duck…or Uncle Scrooge…or Huey, Louie & Dewey…or maybe Goofy–him, I can relate to.

Anyway, this is going to involve air travel, and, as I have told virtually everyone who asks about this trip, I have not been on a plane for over twenty years. I am supposing that things are a little different now, and my sister, the traveler, got us–Mom & me–around two airports through sheer force of will and her imposing presence while pushing a luggage cart with my mother perched on the front. Some trip that was! Anyway, it’s been awhile, in any case…did not spot Orville or Wilbur or even Amelia Earhart …but I’m hoping that I will not have to flap my wings quite as hard this time.

Somewhere up safely within the Pearly Gates, I am hearing the dear departed Becky Moser Tsk-Tsking about the fact that I am overpacking and under-planning (Beck could do world tours with nothing but ensembles in navy/khaki/white/ black, an Ohio State scarlet jacket and a toothbrush. Panache, they calls it.). Anyway, anyone in my contacts listing, be prepared to commiserate when I call for advice from somewhere to the west of Timbuktu. I’ve got people who think that they are going to get me to Orlando in no time at all. That’s what I am afraid of–no time at all to catch my breath and know where I am…not that I alway do anyhow.

Watch for the travelogue/adventure tale next time, with pics!
