Maple Producers of NE Ohio are inviting you to attend two workshops that will take you from tree to table and beyond, not only making the syrup but turning that syrup into delicious maple treats. Come to one or both.
Workshop One – Backyard Maple Syrup Maker – Are you a hobby maple producer? Whether you have 1 bucket or 100 buckets, there is always something new and exciting to learn. The MPNEO will walk you through the basics of making maple syrup from tree ID, tapping, gathering, storage, hobby boiling techniques on a smaller scale, filtering and finishing syrup. The workshop will be held at James Miller’s Sugar Valley Maple Farm, 15771 Chipmunk Lane, Middlefield 44062 from 8:30 AM to 12 PM.
Workshop Two – Home Kitchen Confections – In the afternoon MPNEO members will show you the basics of making maple candy, maple coated nuts, maple cream and maple sugar. The workshop will be held at The Patterson Center (Geauga County Fairgrounds) 14269 Claridon-Troy Road, Burton 44021 from 1:00-3:00 PM.
Registration Details: Pre-registration is requested by Wednesday January 17th. Attendance is limited, 25 for each workshop. The registration fee is $20.00 for each individual workshop. The money raised will go to support the operation/maintenance of the MPNEO Fairground’s Sugarhouse during the Great Geauga County Fair over Labor Day Weekend.
