Garrettsville – This past Saturday while many were out enjoying the beautiful weather, something unusual happened at four locations in Garrettsville. Shortly after noon, a dance flash mob of sorts was sighted at four locations in town. The dance flash mob was for National Dance Week (April 26-May 5). Studios across the country banded together with the same routine and were to flash mob “someplace.” The 8th Count Dance Studio mobbed Speedway, McDonalds, Save-A-Lot and the movie theater parking lot. The places the studio mobbed had folks in awe of the dancers and cheered them on. Not all the dancers were students from the studio. Some of them were family members of dance students. The group learned the routine Saturday morning before hitting the streets sporting neon shirts designed and provided by dance mom, Bessie Voshel.
The event was free for everyone and those who participated and watched them dance had a great time. What a wonderful thing for the studio to do. It gave folks in town an idea of what the dance studio is all about.
If you missed the dance mob you can see the dancers at their year-end recital at the Iva Walker Auditorium on June 1st at 1pm or 5pm. Contact the studio for tickets at 330 527-0358 and check out their web site www.the8thcount.com
Participants included: Shanelle Waggoner, Darian Brogdon, Emily Yarish, Jay Bates, Chelsea Bates, Kaylie Bates, Jayden Bates, Matt Voshel, Elijah Voshel, Becca Lawrence, Morgan Lovett, Natasha Rantilla, Ashley Kaiser, Madison Proctor and Lauren Sanchez. Tina Lawrence and Christina Bates helped with the group and also chaperone the group around town. Watch out Garrettsville, next year — the mob could get you!! The dance Studio would like to thank all the participants and those who helped make the venture a success.
