Live Nativity

Dec. 14 & 15

You are invited to the live nativity at the First Church of God, 426 W. broad St., Newton Falls, on Dec 14 & 15 from 5-7pm. Come and hear the story in a most spectacular way. The “Rock” Youth Group of the church is sponsoring this event under the direction of Seth and Heather Howard. 

 

No Time To Bake?

This is your last chance to order delicious homemade Christmas cookies from the Nelson UMC. Orders must be called in no later than Dec. 15 to Norma (330) 527-5442 or Pam (330) 537-5744. The cookies offered in one and two pound decorated boxes at $7 a pound. The cookies will be ready for pick up Dec. 20 from 4-6 pm. Have a glorious and safe Christmas from the Nelson Church Family.

Yuletide Revels Show & Dinner

JAGHS Theatre Dept. Presents: Yuletide Revels Show & Dinner on Dec. 15 at 6:30pm. Tickets are $25 per person (includes dinner/show). Reservations required by calling Laura Young 330-527-4341 M-F between 8a-2p. The Yuletide Revels is a recreation of a Renaissance Christmas musical performance complete with a royal court, court jester, recorder consort, herald trumpeters, harp and a bountiful meal.

 

Breakfast with Santa

The Palmyra Fireflies, along with the Palmyra Fire Department. Present the 6th Annual Breakfast with SANTA! Santa will be arriving at 8:30 A.M. on a FIRE TRUCK Date: Dec. 15. Time: 8:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. Location: The Palmyra Fire Station on St. Rt. 225 (just south of Tallmadge Road in Diamond) Meal: Pancakes, Sausage, and Beverages. Cost: $5.00 for Adults, $3.00 for kids 4-10, 3 and under – FREE. Along with Breakfast with SANTA, you’ll receive one (1) 4×6 PICTURE and FRAME per family. Additional pictures available for $2 and Santa will have a little gift for all kids. Bring in a non-perishable item to help our adopted family!

 

Windham Toys for Tots

Spaghetti Dinner

Dec. 15 

Spaghetti dinner will be Dec. 15 from 4-7 pm at the Western Reserve Masonic Lodge on St. Rt. 88 in West Farmington. Dinner includes salad, pie and bread. Cost is $7 for adults, $4.50 for ages 5-12, five and under eat free. Carry-outs are available for $7.50.

 

Annual Christmas Party

Dec. 15

Warren Amateur Radio’s Annual Christmas Party with Santa along with the Annual Awards Ceremony will be held Dec. 15 at First United Methodist Church on North Park Avenue in Warren. It will be held downstairs. Social hour starts at 5 pm, dinner will begin at 6 pm, the meat will be furnished by the club.Everyone is asked to bring a covered dish to pass, which can be a casserole, vegetable dish or dessert.There will be a $20.00 gift exchange, woman bring woman’s gift , man bring a man’s gift. If you bring children to talk with Santa please bring a gift for that child.

 

Breakfast With Santa

It’s Christmas season, and Santa will be stopping at the First Congregational Church at 612 W. Broad St. in Newton Falls for our annual all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, milk and juice breakfast. In Santa’s honor it is FREE to young and old. Grandparents, Mom & Dad, and, of course, all the children are invited. We will be serving breakfast from 9:30 a.m. till 11:00a.m, Dec.15.

 

Auction

Silent Auction will be Dec. 15 from noon till 2 pm at 10801 John Edward Drive, Mantua Village. Enjoy the holidays and come bid on our many treasures. Too much variety to mention. During our two hour silent auction, brats, dogs, chips and drinks will be available for purchase. Get out of the weather and come here for some great bargains.

Saturday, December 15: Stephens Memorial Observatory of Hiram College will host a public observing night from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Visitors will observe the solar system’s biggest planet – Jupiter – with its four Galilean Moons! We will also be looking at the Great Nebula of Orion, red giant star Betelgeuse, and perhaps a star cluster or two. The Observatory is located on Wakefield Road (Rt. 82) less than a quarter of a mile west of Route 700 in Hiram. Sock & Mitten Tree

The East Geauga Kiwanis Club is sponsoring a “Sock & Mitten” tree at the Crossroads Country Cafe, 15916 W. High St. in Middlefield. Donations of socks, hats, mittens, scarves, gloves or underwear will be accepted until December 16th, and will benefit Geauga County Jobs & Family Services. Breakfast with Christmas Shepherd

Geauga Youth Orchestra

The Cole Family Singers from Doylestown, OH will present a gospel music concert on Dec. 17 at 6 pm at the Newbury Full Gospel Church in Kiwanis Lake. The public is invited and the concert is free. The church is located at 14156 View Dr. 

 

CBF Loaves and Fishes Meal

Hot dogs, baked beans, potato salad, cookies and a drink will be the menu for our Dec. Loaves and Fishes meal at Covenant Bible Fellowship, 8146 High Street, Garrettsville, on December 18th from 5:30 – 7:00 pm. All are invited as we have no income restrictions. Longest Night Service

Dec. 21

Windham UMC will be hosting a “Longest Night Service” for those who mourn. Holidays are wonderful and full of joy, but they can be hard when we are missing someone. Whether you’ve lost someone recently or 20 years ago, the pain can be more acute during the holidays.  On Dec. 21 at 7:30pm we will gather for a quiet worship service of music and hope with people who understand.

 

Santa Claus is Coming to Town

The Rotary Club of Garrettsville-Hiram has made special arrangements with Santa Claus to personally deliver packages in Garrettsville and Hiram on Sunday, December 23rd. Since so many children have been good this year, Santa feels he will be exceptionally busy on Christmas Eve and has agreed to come a day early! If you have a package that you would like Santa to deliver, please drop it off at The Business Works, 8110 Main Street, Garrettsville or at MB Reality, 8118 Main Street, Garrettsville by Friday, December 21st. Of course, Santa doesn’t charge for this service, but encourages donations that will be given to the People Tree. If you have any questions, please call Amy Crawford at (330) 527-4415.

 

Community Christmas Eve Service

The First Congregational Church of Freedom will be celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ at a Community Christmas Eve Candlelight Service, which will be held one night early, on Dec. 23 at 6:30 pm. The church is located at the intersections of St. Rt. 88 & St. Rt. 303 in Freedom Twp.

 

Hiram Fire Association Santa Claus

The Hiram Fire Association and Santa Claus will help deliver gifts in Hiram Village and Hiram Twp. On Dec. 23 from 5-8pm. Please have your gifts at the Hiram Fire Dept. no later than 8pm on Dec. 21. Candlelight Christmas Eve Service

Candlelight Christmas Eve Services will be held at First Baptist Church, 2640 South Canal Street, Newton Falls at 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM on, Dec. 24.  The service will include traditional Christmas carols, a message entitled “What does Christ want for Christmas?” and a congregational candle lighting. All are welcome.

Coffee With The Birds

Nothing like watching the world go by near a bird feeder. Have you ever been sitting in a chair with a cup of coffee enjoying the view of your bird feeder and said, “Geez, I wonder what kind of bird that is,” or, “How can I get more birds to come?” Well, now’s your chance to get those questions answered and still enjoy that cup of joe indoors. Join Naturalist Nora Sindelar for an “inside” look at bird watching as we enjoy sitting around our bird feeding station indoors with warm beverages and snacks.Dec. 29 – 9:30 to 11:30 am at The West Woods Nature Center

Getting Ahead Workshop

Getting Ahead is a 16-week workshop series where participants work in groups to examine the impact of poverty on themselves and their communities and to explore the world through the lens of economic class.
