Garrettsville– The 8th Count Dance Studio presented “Red, White and Blue Salute” last Saturday in front of two, nearly sold out crowds at the Iva J. Walker Auditorium at James A. Garfield High School. The recital had over 80 dancers performing a variety of dance routines, including hip-hop, clogging, tap, jazz, ballet, and even a gymnastics routine. The dancers had the crowd totally involved in the show as they saluted the Red, White and Blue.
The recital opened with Gabby Biltz doing a high energy hip- hop routine to the song “Party Rock Anthem.” Biltz set the standard high and the rest of the dancers followed suit. The cloggers showed us some fancy footwork as they paid tribute to the Armed Forces with a clogging routine to “Great Defenders.”
The Tiny Tots dance class stole the show as the little ballerinas danced to “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.” One could hear all the aah’s and ooh’s as the tiny ones took the stage and danced their little hearts out. A little later in the program, Elijah Voshel and Becca Lawrence stole everyone’s heart as the young couple performed a waltz to “My Country Tis of Thee.”
Dance veteran, Emily Yarish did a solo dance to “Taps” that was so inspiring one could visualize a bugler playing at the cemetery. It was awesome! The “Dance Moms” got into the act as well when they surprised the crowd by dancing to “Cleveland Rocks” The ladies really rocked out the show!
The crowd was dazzled with hip –hop, tap, clogging, ballet, and jazz as dancers performed to patriotic tunes about Ohio, Cleveland, Kansas, New York, and surfing. They closed out the recital with Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA.” The finale had 80-plus dancers that literally knocked your socks off as they paid tribute to the America,
