Art on the Hill Returns to Mantua on July 8th

Mantua – The annual art festival and wine tasting returns to Mantua on Saturday, July 8th. At this year’s festival, organizers once again expect thousands of visitors to the sleepy village during the festival hours of 10 am to 6 pm. This summer street festival boasts over 80 artisans selling and displaying their handmade works of art as well as great food from local restaurants and food booths, a Chinese auction of art and local prizes, and as well as wine tasting by four local wineries.

Named the “2014 Best Arts and Cultural Event in Portage County,” why not share your own artistic skills by entering one of the festival’s much-anticipated photo contests. Photos of any subject — whether portraits, landscapes, events, places, or nature can be entered into the general contest.

Photos of Mantua’s porches and front doors can be entered into a special contest for inclusion in the 2023 DMRC calendar which will be sold to help fund future DMRC projects in the village. Any photos of the Mantua area—the village iteself, the township, Shalersville or Hiram are eligible. Calendar photos will be judged along with all the photo categories for prizes.

Photographers of every age (Pre-K through adult) may enter one photo at a cost of $5.00 or $20 for 5 photos. Each photo must be an 8 x 10 print, color or black and white, and mounted in an 11 x 14 inch matte cut for an 8 x 10 inch photo. Photo submissions with entry fees may be left at Jake’s beginning July 1 through July 7 or brought to the festival at Five Five Media Studio (in the Granary Building) between 8:00 and 9:45 AM on July 8th.

In addition,  volunteers are needed in a variety of roles throughout the day. Contact Martha Levine at marthavechery@msn.com to lend your skills to this fantastic, fun festival.
