Garrettsville – The Garrettsville Farmer’s is entering its sixth season. Navigating the pandemic was a challenge but it appears as if the Market is here to stay. Our area offers many organic farms and small batch producers who are entrepreneurs living their dreams by doing what they love and offering those products to the Garrettsville-Hiram communities. What we need to do is help this small economic engine grow in Garrettsville and beyond. Please stop by the Market Thursdays on The Buckeye Block from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm for good healthy food, community programming, meeting your neighbors and dinner!
The grant from the Hiram Community Trust is critical to helping establish the Market’s operations and community programming, including, weekly music and arts activities. When you stop by this summer, you’ll find expanded engagement programs for children and families including FREE book giveaways, artist demonstrations and workshop activities and learning about the animals in our rural landscape with Jane O’Brien from the Hiram bio-station.
“We are so grateful to the Hiram Community Trust and their generosity. We believe that the Garrettsville Farmers’ Market has become a cornerstone for our community and bridging the gap between residents and our local farmers and small batch producers. Not only will this grant help us continue to bridge that gap through additional community outreach, but we will be able to build current programming, offering additional art and agricultural activities for children, bring back live music and implement food access programs for underserved community members. Simply put, this grant is pivotal in the development of Garrettsville Farmers’ Market and the positive impact we strive for in the Hiram, Garrettsville, and surrounding communities.”
Sara Hill, Market Manager
The Hiram Community Trust board members commented about the project. “The Garrettsville Farmers Market is among the Hiram Community Trust grant recipients who aim to increase community involvement and make Hiram and the surrounding areas a distinctive and special place. We are pleased to support its efforts to support local farmers while increasing exposure to the arts in our neighborhoods.”
