It’s time to break out your favorite animal skin and dress up for the 12th annual Caveman Crawl 5K Trail Run & 1-Mile Fun Walk. Wrap yourself in your finest caveman garb, and run, walk, or crawl to The West Woods in Russell Township on Sunday, June 11, 2023, for a chance to win a special handcrafted Best Costume award!
The Caveman Crawl is a trail-pounding, heart-pumping, costume-wearing, all-ages athletic event popular with competitive and casual runners, families and local nature lovers. Early registration is just $25, and the first 200 runners, walkers and crawlers to sign up will receive a race T-shirt. Caveman Crawl 5K participants will follow a course of primarily well-graded dirt and gravel with minimal pavement running. Run it, walk it, or choose the 1-Mile Fun Walk course through the woods. Race timing for the Caveman Crawl is managed by GCXC Race Timing and Management. Come early for pre-race activities featuring breathing exercises and chair massages by Chardon Integrated Wellness; warm-up stretches with Taproot Yoga; and balloons for the kids by Balloon by Blake.
Attracting as many as 400 people annually, the Caveman Crawl supports the Foundation for Geauga Parks, which funds park and trail improvement, nature education programs like Nature Scopes binocular program, and conservation scholarships. The West Woods, located at 9465 Kinsman Road (Route 87) in Russell Township, is one of Geauga’s most popular parks with its top-notch nature center, historic sandstone ledges and almost seven miles of trails.
