Kids’ Tent

Also contributing to the family-friendly nature of the weekly farmers’ market, children are welcome to spend time in the Kids’ Tent to do planting projects, arts-and-crafts, and eco-friendly activities.

On June 6  — the season’s first market — children can enjoy a Planting Project, where kids can plant their own vegetables, herbs or flowers in individual pots and take them home.

On June 13, the Kids’ Tent will host Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! During this session, children will use fabric markers to color their own canvas shopping bags. This fun project will encourage kids and their parents to choose reusable shopping bags rather than throwaway plastic bags when shopping.

Throughout the season, children will also enjoy Touch a Truck/Trailer experiences, Farm Animal Visits, Nature Art (kids will create original artwork using only items found in nature, i.e. cattails as paint brushes, leaves and flowers as stamps), Meet the Park Ranger  (a local park ranger will educate kids about local nature preserves and the wildlife found there), and more! Stay tuned as the Kids’ Tent schedule further unfolds.
