Sixteen members of the Twentieth Century Club of Garrettsville gathered at the home of Jane Hill, program chairperson, on September 20, 2018 for a pot-luck supper opening the 2018-2019 club year. The menu, as usual, was outstanding and delicious. The annual Fall Get-Together launches the array of activities that make up the programs through that year. The program booklets were produced by member Lucy Galayde following the rubric of the Calendar Committee, to take “Hats Off to Little-Known Women”.

Members chose the hats which they intended to raise at a later date, for the Guest Night in February. The constitution and by-laws were read in their entirety. The change in starting time for regular meetings to 7:00 p.m. was duly noted.

The roll call for the evening was the recounting of favorite summer memories, which ranged from kayaking expeditions to various travels, family gatherings, vacations in general, binge-watching addictions, a new puppy and an afghan…quite a spread. A letter was read from the Nelson-Garrettsville Community Cupboard and the club voted to continue its support of the NGCC Snack-Pack program at the Garfield Elementary School. Donations will be taken at the next meeting. News of the passing of Honorary Member Elaine Ochwat in Florida was received with sadness.
The next meeting will be on October 4 at the home of Connie Crate, with Jane Bell serving as co-hostess.
